We have been building our strong operational portfolio for almost 50 years. The portfolio comprises our catering supply divisions, which deliver nationally, sourcing the best quality produce from the UK, Europe and the rest of the world, our manufacturing of bespoke products for foodservice and retail channels and our popular chain of retail shops.
Our family of UK production and distribution sites in Rotherham, Chesterfield and Godalming enable us to provide the best possible service for our customers and we are proud to operate on the local, regional, and national stages, along with our links with global partners and supply chains.
These sites are complemented by a portfolio of associated businesses, which enables us to provide a bespoke service for our customers’ varying needs across the entire sector. From restaurant supply to the home market, products with provenance to high specification specialist products and expertly manufactured volume products, we demonstrate a wealth of experience, capability, and consistency.
While Underwood Meat Company is the core of our business, Northern Catering and Underwoods in the South provide bespoke chef driven product solutions for independent outlets and our National Parks Quality Beef & Lamb brand ensures we have a premium range of the finest quality local products born and nurtured in the UK’s beautiful National Parks.
In recent years we have grown our retail chain - The Butchers Shop - to comprise nine stores to serve local communities in Yorkshire, Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire. Our stores have grown on the popularity of our restaurant quality products that deliver to households our supply ethos of “everyday great quality and value”.
Underwoods National Production & Distribution - Rotherham
Underwood Meat Company in Rotherham is home to our head office and national production and distribution centre.
From our extensive fully accredited premises we focus on volume supply to our national food service and retail restaurant accounts, and public sector clients.
Underwoods in the South - Godalming
From Godalming we process and deliver products directly for brewery, holiday parks, and independent restaurant clients in the South of England.
London and the M25 corridor is our target distribution area from here, but we also offer a regional solution for this part of the country up to the Home Counties and down to the south coast.
Sausage & Burger Production - Chesterfield
From our BRC AA accredited dedicated production facility in Chesterfield we produce a huge range of high quality sausages and burgers to recipes developed by our specialist team.
This facility serves the requirements of our customers across the group, along with bespoke products for direct supply and export activities.
Manufacturing & Cold Storage (Chilled & Frozen) - Holmewood
Our food processing factory and cold storage site is a 30,000 square foot BRC AA approved facility and holds Red Tractor Accreditation.
We have storage capacity for 1,000 pallets of both chilled and frozen material in the cold store, and our manufacturing production specialises in the supply of bespoke bulk material for the food manufacturing sector and small pack processing for multiple retail and convenience channels.

Northern Catering Butchers - Rotherham
Northern Catering Butchers, part of the Underwood Meat Company group, supplies high quality, fresh meat products especially to the independent catering and hotel sector.
These qualities, along with expert procurement, integrity, traceability, service, and a flexible approach to individual needs, ensure we always deliver customer satisfaction, and a great dining experience for the consumer.
Our meat supply includes premium British lamb and beef sourced from upland beauty areas in the North of England, including several the UK's National Parks, along with other world leading quality producers across all species.

The Butchers Shop Retail Chain -
South Yorkshire, Derbyshire & Nottinghamshire
In response to persistent interest in our products from the general public we opened our first branch of The Butchers Shop in Rotherham in December 2008.
The site, based at our factory outlet, was such a success that we have since opened eight additional branches in Barnsley, Nottingham (Clifton), Doncaster, Dronfield, Eckington, Sheffield (Drakehouse), Leeds (Stanningley) and Wakefield (Snow Hill).
These popular outlets serve their local communities and have a loyal customer base., all enjoying our restaurant quality meat, backed by our “everyday great quality and value” promise.
The Butchers Shop - Online Store (Home Delivery Service)
Our online store was developed to quickly respond to the needs of customers in local communities at the start of the 2020 Coronavirus pandemic.
We have worked hard to develop our online offering to provide a comprehensive catalogue of meat products and a home delivery service, which is available nationally.
What began as a small operation with deliveries made via our own fleet has now become a larger service with a specialist delivery partner and an area we are working to grow.
